LLANBADARN Fawr is the sole area from north Ceredigion bidding to host the National Eisteddfod in 2020, competing with five other areas.
The Eisteddfod is returning to Ceredigion in 2020 for the first time since 1976, with community councils across the county asked to put forward expressions of interest to hold the event in their ward.
While there have been six expressions of interest, Llanbadarn Fawr is the only town or community council in north Ceredigion to declare an interest in providing a site for the National Eisteddfod.
Ceredigion County Council will now forward the identified sites to the National Eisteddfod for the National Eisteddfod board to consider which is the best site and make a final decision.
Interest from Cardigan and Lampeter had been well publicised with councillors and the town council in both areas making public their interest in bidding to host the eisteddfod.
Aberystwyth Town Council had said it was not possible for the town to host the eisteddfod within the town council boundary as there were no parcels of land large enough to meet the site demands of the eisteddfod.
However, mayor Endaf Edwards said the town council would offer support to any community council in the area that was interested in hosting the event and had a suitable site.
The requirements for the site include an area of around 140 acres, good travel links and connection with electricity as well as mobile phone and broadband coverage.
