Madam,

Lib Dem claims need closer analysis.

I write in response to the article quoting Elizabeth Evans (Cambrian News, 31 March) regarding the changes proposed to health delivery by Plaid Cymru, where she claims that the results of a survey carried out by her party - the Lib Dems – into GPs’ reactions to the proposed changes shows that they are resoundingly opposed to the changes that would be so disastrous to the people of Ceredigion.

Closer analysis of the figures quoted show that only one in five GPs responded to the survey and only two in every three of those respondents opposed Plaid’s proposed new policy, which translates to only one in seven GPs in Wales voicing any opposition to the proposed policy. This shows that over 80 per cent of GPs in Wales support or are not overly concerned with the effect Plaid’s policy changes will have on the people of Wales. Hardly a resounding opposition but a resounding acceptance of the changes proposed.

I am very disappointed that Elizabeth has fallen to the depths of her party’s higher echelons, whose actions over recent years have led to the party being almost non existent in Wales and the larger UK.

Yours etc
