I write as secretary of the North Ceredigion Forum For Elderly Care to thank the Cambrian News for printing the letters of the Forum’s press secretary George Holloway and member Dai Thomas (affectionately known as ‘Dai Dogs’ retired police dog handler) for their excellent letters published in last week’s issue of the Cambrian News extolling the sense in giving full backing to the present applicant to purchase Bodlondeb - of which the leader of the council wrote to the forum: “You will be pleased to note that Bodlondeb has been sold as a nursing and nursing dementia home subject to contract” some 12 months ago.

The forum, born out of the ashes of the closure of Bodlondeb Residential Home over two years ago, is chaired by Mark Williams former MP for Ceredigion and made up of members all with vast experience of the need of social and health service care for our most vulnerable.

Members are all giving 100 per cent effort for procuring the best care possible to be provided locally, whether of a physical or mental nature, and see this application to purchase Bodlondeb as fulfilling a local need.

I now ask if this forum and so many third sector charity organisations are continually expressing the desperate need for the provision of local residential including EMI nursing care, which this applicant to purchase offers, why they are not being listened to and acted upon by all 42 Ceredigion county councillors? Do they not realise that ‘out of county’ care is like a divorce for many elderly and infirm spouses and families.
