I am writing in response to the complaints from people regarding the extra paving in Aberaeron. I understand that the democratic process has not been satisfactory and I agree that this is unacceptable.

I wish to say though, that the outcome from my point of view as a pedestrian and bus user is a positive one. The bus stops right in the centre of town so it is easy to get to all the shops. It is much safer to cross the road because of the new speed limit and without any cars parked opposite the bus stops.

Walking around and being able to stop and chat to friends, standing a decent distance apart without having to step onto the road, is wonderful. Aberaeron is a delight to be in. It is fantastic to see so many people sitting outside the cafés.

There are many disabled people who use the bus but some clearly need to be able to park close to shops in their cars. Most people are perfectly able to walk a short distance from a parking place away from the centre. As a resident from an outlying village of Aberaeron, I have to say that more people ought to walk and/ or catch the bus. The bus service into Aberaeron is regular from three directions. Not only will you benefit the planet, you will also help the NHS by getting fitter.

It is incumbent on all of us to do our bit. Surely, not being able to park right outside a shop is a small price to pay.
