A FUNDRAISER for a Welsh breast cancer charity has raised nearly £1,000.

A coffee morning and raffle held at Antur Stiniog organised for a colleague battling the disease raised over £900 after the Blaenau Ffestiniog community once again came together to support their own.

Carol Thomas, 45, is currently undergoing treatment to battle the disease, and in her honour, all money will be donated to local breast cancer charities.

Sian Humphries, who was influential in setting up the morning, was pleased with the outcome.

“We were tallying how much we had made and I just thought ‘flipping heck!’,” she said.

“Carol’s a popular lady in town and lots of people were happy to help out, but we made more than we thought we would.

“We had a raffle and some lovely homemade cakes which everyone enjoyed. We’re very grateful to everyone who donated, whether it was a raffle prize or cash.”
