One of the main routes into Aberystwyth will be hit by major roadworks overnight between Monday, 13 January and Friday, 17 January.
Work will take place on the A487 at Penglais Hill from 7pm until 6am on the five nights with the road closed during that period.
There will be further work overnight on the road, but a Welsh Government spokesperson said that would not involve the closure of the road, but traffic control measures would be put in place instead.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said the work was for resurfacing and drainage repairs.
They said: “The works are essential safety related resurfacing works and drainage repairs.
“The overnight closures are necessary on a relatively narrow stretch of road where it would be difficult to safely accommodate existing traffic flows.
“The bulk of the works will be carried out using conventional traffic management methods utilising using temporary traffic lights with convoy working, when the road will be open to all traffic.
“The contractor is aware of the need to maintain reasonable access to sites along the road, and will have staff on site during the works to manage traffic and access.
“Signed diversion routes will be established during the works.”
The work is scheduled to take place over three weeks, with contractor Tarmac targeting a stretch of the A487 around the junction with the A44 for the period when the road is closed.
The remaining work will see standard traffic management put in place, but the Welsh Government spokesperson said that emergency service access would be possible at all times, as part of the work affects the A&E entrance at Bronglais Hospital.
