AN ABERAERON-born cyclist will be passing through his home town as he and two friends attempt to cycle the length of the Welsh coastline over Easter in order to raise at least £5,000 and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Owen Raw-Rees and companions Matthew Jones and Peter Tomley will be starting their 750km marathon at Rhoose, the most southerly town in Wales, on Thursday, 24 March, and finishing at its most northerly – Llanll-eiana, on Anglesey - on Sunday, 27 March.
The trio, who will need to cover over 120 miles per day and are braced for around 10 hours in the saddle, have been training regularly since just before Christmas.
Owen, 32, an account director for a media publisher who currently lives in Brixton, south London, is no stranger to charity events.
A few years ago he successfully rode from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Then in 2014 he raised £12,000 for St Thomas’s Hospital in London by completing the London Marathon, Three Peaks Challenge and the Lands End to John O’Groats cycle in memory of his late father, Hywel.
