A paramedic who has given 30 years of service to Llanidloes and Powys, has retired.
Machynlleth resident Edward Denham, 61, started working as a paramedic for the Welsh Ambulance Service in 1991.
Matthew Vaughan, who worked alongside Edward for seven years, said: “His humour and play on words will be missed by all. I wish him all the happiness as he starts his new venture and thank him tremendously for the experiences we shared and knowledge he has passed on.
Edward said: “I’ve had a long and incredible career with the ambulance service, as I’ve come up through the ranks from part-time patient transport service then technician, which was non-emergency to begin with.
“I qualified as a paramedic in 2004, I’ve been a paramedic since. I’ve felt very honoured and humbled to do what I did. It’s a privileged position, seeing life as a spectrum, from the beginning to the end. And all that lies between.
“I owe a debt of gratitude to my colleagues, who have helped me, and the Welsh Ambulance Trust has been very good to me and supported me through the years; the ups and downs, good times and bad, successes and failures.”
