Editor,

Last week, Daniel Browne suggested that the current parking system at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth, should be reversed so that the on-site parking at the hospital would be for staff use while patients and visitors would use the hospital’s park-and-ride system currently allocated to staff.

He argues that staff who work long hours should not be expected to have to add a long walk or a bus journey to their day to get to their cars - but that that would be all right for patients who are ill or have mobility issues.

Parking at the hospital is a problem for staff, patients and visitors alike but that is not the solution.

In the longer term, investment is needed to provide a larger car park that can accommodate staff and patients alike but in the meantime, priority should continue to be given to patients and visitors.
