A WELSH wonder woman who has completed six gruelling international competitions is looking to complete her seventh on home soil.

Paula Sky Tunnadine, right, a well known fitness fanatic in Barmouth, has completed her latest round of training before taking on Ironman Wales this weekend in Tenby.

Paula has been told by her mother that she is “getting too old for all of this” but the determined athlete admits she knows no other way and that competing is “her life”.

The 54-year-old, who has completed Ironman challenges in Hawaii, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and Australia, is under no disillusion about the size of the task ahead of her.

“After many months of training, I’m travelling down to Tenby to take part in Ironman Wales on 9 September,” she told the Cambrian News.

“I will have to swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run 26.4 miles.

“At last I’ll be flying my Welsh flag in my home country!

“Ironman Wales is known as the toughest Ironman event out there.

“I’m just hoping I can get to the finish line to complete my seventh full triathlon.”
