A new support network has been launched by Mind Aberystwyth, in partnership with Mind Cymru.

Side by Side Cymru, a peer support network for Ceredigion, was launched on 20 February at The Cambria in Aberystwyth.

Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other through a group, one-to-one or online, and may involve activities such as crafts, walking or meeting for coffee.

Mind Aberystwyth CEO Greg Thomas said: “Side by Side Cymru is an exciting new departure for Mind Aberystwyth from our traditional areas of support delivery and therapeutic interventions and an exciting time for our beneficiaries and partners.”

The launch event was attended by organisations from across the county and showcased some of the peer support activity taking place as well as exploring the opportunities available for community-based organisations and individuals to receive support and funding.

Funded by Welsh Government, the network will offer opportunities for community-based organisations and individuals to apply for a one off grant of up to £250 to support the delivery of their work, and to take part in free networking and training events.

The grant, administrated by Mind Aberystwyth, will be used to purchase equipment or resources or even to fund venue hire.
