TRAFFIC lights on Penglais Hill have been causing large tailbacks for motorists heading into and out of Aberystwyth this week.

Around midday yesterday (Monday), contractors were seen laying cones and putting out traffic lights.

They caused major disruption on the arterial route during rush hour last night and this morning (Tuesday).

A Freedom of Information request by the Cambrian News reveals that between 1 January, 2012, and 9 July, 2015, there have been 77 roadworks on Penglais Hill alone — an average of almost two per month.

Ceredigion County Council has been approached for comment.
