Deudraeth Camera Club

IT IS often said that practice makes perfect, and that possibly goes some way to explaining the clean sweep of awards attained by Amanda Sims at the club’s annual Print and PI of the Year competition. This year was judged by Gareth Jenkins ARPS, CPAGB. Gareth, a well known and highly respected judge and lecturer in the world of photography, began his adjudication by commenting on the high quality of this year’s entry. He said that this year was somewhat smaller than in previous years but contained a high proportion of images which he regarded worthy of high commendation. After a detailed analysis of each of the entries the winners were declared. All the top places were awarded to Amanda, who has recently secured herself the accolade of CPAGB together with a number of acceptances and awards in national exhibitions. The runners up, who were adjudged to be but a whisper behind were, in the Print section, - Terry Mills followed by Gwladys Roberts. In the Projected Image section Terry again took the second slot with Steve Williams placed third. The Image of the Year trophy also went to Amanda for her PI entitled “Three little maids” which has been successful in events held further afield. Not bad for a evening’s work. The club will close for the summer following the annual dinner and awards ceremony to be held on 18 July at Tyddyn Llwyn Restaurant.
