Madam,

Following a letter from J Barber of Cardigan (‘Pension campaign should not be run by one party’) we are writing to emphasise that the Women Against State Pension Injustice – WASPI - campaign is non-party political.

It is important to stress that WASPI – both locally and nationally – is not linked to any political party. The issue of 1950s women’s pensions is dealt with at parliamentary level by the All Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women. As its name suggests, it is made up of members of parliament from all parties, and is seeking to find a solution to the pensions crisis.

Today Ceredigion County Council unanimously passed a resolution to support the WASPI campaign. Again, cross-party support.

We are currently holding WASPI advice sessions to help women make a formal complaint about the lack of notice they received that the pension they had paid into all their working lives would no longer be available to them at age 60. The next sessions are 3pm–5pm on 31 October, 14 November and 5 December in the libraries at Aberaeron, Cardigan and Aberystwyth respectively.

We look forward to welcoming all 1950s women, their friends and families to the first meeting of Ceredigion WASPI at 11am on Saturday, 19 January at RAY Ceredigion in Aberaeron.

Yours etc,

Pamela Judge and Wendy Campion, on behalf of Ceredigion WASPI.
