Madam,

I am one of the women affected by the change to women’s pension age.

I’m in the first tranche - i.e. we were informed that some of our state pension we had arranged to have would be “stolen” from us before we had a chance to get our hands on it.

I did know (but only because I read the newspapers - as I certainly never received a personal letter telling me).

I am only too thankful that I just escaped the government coming back for another “slice of the pie” personally - as I just escaped them coming back and raising my state pension age again.

However, my hands are absolutely tied re: taking part in the campaign against this - because one political party and one political party only seems to be promoting this as an “issue” in this area.

This has ruled me out from taking any part in the campaigning at all. I imagine it has also ruled out quite a few other people from doing so either. I would be quite happy to back a campaign being run on a non-party-political basis - as it should be! I would probably even support a campaign that I saw was being run by the Conservatives or the Labour Party.

Is there a way organisers of this campaign can “cut the ties” to one political party - as this should, after all, be something for those from any political party and none?

Meanwhile, I am finding it impossible to join a campaign run by a political party that I honestly believe should not even exist.

I might well be able to join in elsewhere in the country - but, in this area, I find it impossible.

Yours etc,

J Barber, Cardigan.
