Madam,

Re the headline in last week’s Cambrian News - “More than two thirds of public toilets to be axed”. We must face the reality of this situation with regard to tourism. Will those responsible for advertising the beauty of Wales, and welcoming people to come, be honest enough to state that this is a no-go area when they have the need to go? Will visitors be advised to bring their own facilities with them - whatever they might be?

Will they also be decent enough to remove the signs that lead one into car parks to find locked doors, forcing one to drive off desperately seeking a wooded layby. We ourselves once saw a sign for toilets a mile ahead but they were closed and the lights were on!We wonder, will the laws about exposure and fouling be relaxed because there is going to be a lot of it around?Perhaps we should re-design our nation’s flag. Taking inspiration from the Manx flag of three legs running we could have two legs crossed. Joking apart, we feel ashamed of what is being done in our name to this beautiful land.

Yours etc
