Madam,
I am writing to address any confusion that might arise from your article in last week’s Cambrian News headlined “More Stops Bid”.
While all other trains stop at every station, some on request, the train passing through Ardudwy, heading north from Barmouth just before 8pm does not. This results in confusion for all. For example, passengers wishing to alight at Talybont or Penrhyn or other smaller stations on the mid-evening train find that they cannot. This train, increasingly becoming known as the ghost train, stops only at Harlech between Llanaber and Porthmadog. This makes life difficult for local residents, visitors and especially the train staff, who have to deal with the resulting confusion and sometimes anger.
In response to requests from local residents, the local Labour Party is co-ordinating a petition seeking to improve this situation.
The petition will be handed to Joyce Watson on 10 April th at a forum organised by rail workers’ unions.
Yours etc
Rosy Berry
Llanfair.
