Madam,
Barbaric is the only printable word I can think of which comes anywhere near describing the treatment of this area’s citizens by the War Office (Ministry of Defence is a misnomer).
The frequency and immense throttle power from low-flying jets through Tal-y-llyn Valley is beyond credibility for everyone except those who live here, especially at the top end of the valley.
On Monday, 21 May, there were 37 sorties through this valley ranging from Hawks, Jaguars, Tornadoes and F15s to ultra-low Hercules transport planes: all that was missing was Vulcan and Wellington bombers and Spitfires!
Can any civilised government justify that sort of activity in the quiet, inhabited countryside in peacetime?
The fact that the route, which also incorporates the upper Dyfi valley, has been named The Mach Loop, speaks for itself of the drastic over-use of this small area by these killer machines, acting here from a base in England.
The Welsh Government have never been consulted over this and we Welsh people would never condone training for killing innocent people in Yemen and goodness knows wherever else! Because that is what they are doing.
We are being oppressed by a self-serving regime called the War Office, which is basically interested in self-preservation and self-enhancement, ensconced in their ivory towers. My phone has now been blocked from registering complaints, so, for “democracy” read “oppression of the voiceless”.
Yours etc,
Marian Rees, Tal-y-llyn.
