MOBILE phone companies have said they are working to solve reception problems in Machynlleth after one resident launched a petition calling for action to be taken.

Lee Catterall started the petition aimed at Three and EE after a host of problems with town centre residents experiencing particular problems with those two networks.

Both companies have now said they are taking steps to improve the situation and are hopeful that any issues will be rectified shortly.

A spokesperson for Three said: “We are sorry that some customers in the Machynlleth area are experiencing problems with the network and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are currently working to have the issue fixed as soon as possible.”

An EE spokesperson said: “We’re working as quickly as possible to investigate reports of signal issues in Machynlleth and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Mr Catterall had told the Cambrian News that he had grown increasingly frustrated at the problems with the signal and that many other people in the town felt the same way.

He said as a Three customer, he had suffered problems for around 12 months, and while the company had offered him money off his bills, he would rather be able to rely on a stable signal.

Mr Catterall insisted the problems meant that things had “gone backwards” in Machynlleth.
