A PHOTOGRAPHIC book to honour a TV show filmed in Ceredigion is to be launched at the National Library on Saturday.
Hinterland: Ceredigion Landscapes is a collection of photographs, essays and snapshots from the making of the TV show Hinterland.
The show has become an international hit, and is now broadcast in more than 100 countries, attracting tourists to Ceredigion from all over the world.
It is also available on Netflix.
Hinterland: Ceredigion Landscapes is bilingual and features stunning black and white images by acclaimed photographer David Wilson, as well as fascinating behind-the-scenes shots of filming.
There’s also an essay by Ceredigion novelist Cynan Jones, documenting his response to the rich landscapes of his home county.
Hinterland has been edited by series creators Ed Talfan and Ed Thomas.
Peter Gill, MD for the publisher Graffeg, said: “This book captures the enigmatic spirit of the Hinterland/Y Gwyll series beautifully.
“The atmospheric black and white images conjure up a landscape where mysterious events can take place, as per the series.”
Photographer David Wilson added: “This is a stunning book, and complements the TV series so well. I am sure it will be a hit with fans of the TV series as it reflects the dark and fascinating world of a detective working on strange events that take place in an ancient landscape.”
Hinterland will receive its launch at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth in the company of Ed Talfan, Ed Thomas and David Wilson on 21 October.
At 11am and 2pm, the trio will talk about the show, the book and the landscape that inspired them to set the location in Ceredigion.
The discussion will include a screening from the series and the opportunity to purchase signed copies.
The event is free by ticket.
The Cambrian News has 10 copies of Hinterland: Ceredigion Landscapes to give away.
To be in with a chance of winning, see this week’s paper, fill in the form on page 31 and return it by next Wednesday, 25 October.
