Photographers are being challenged to take part in a special photo marathon this weekend.

For those familiar with the annual photomarathon held in Aberystwyth they will know the drill very well - the aim is to take six pictures in six hours on six different themes.

Now, the organising team behind that photographic event want to try something a little different in light of the current situation.

The aim is to hold a photomarathon over the Easter weekend - four days, four pictures, four themes - but of course there will be no opportunity to wander around town this time.

A prize will be awarded for the best picture each day for the specific theme and one prize will be awarded for the best set of four pictures at the end of the four days.

Themes will be released at 10am on the FfotoAber Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and competitors will need to upload their photos between 5pm and 7pm.

Each entrant will be allowed one entry per day and the winning picture will be revealed at 10am the following morning as the next theme is announced.

The judge will be professional photographer and Aberystwyth cameraman Aled Jenkins.

It is very different to the usual photomarathon but as Catrin M S Davies explains, everything now needs to be thought of differently.

“Despite the constraints we are facing these days photography is still fairly accessible - what is challenging with this idea is identifying images that fit the theme in and around your home," she said.

"Hopefully this will provide an activity for the whole family and maybe encourage healthy competition within families - but basically the aim is to have some fun."

The photomarathon will start on Friday, 10 April and end on Monday, 13 April, with a winner being announced daily for best theme and one winner for best set of four pictures.
