A family hoping to add a small extension to their bungalow in Trawsgoed were surprised by the level of objection from neighbours.

Ceredigion planners recommended Luke Veasey’s application to add to his family’s home in the grounds of Trawsgoed Mansion for approval and members of the council’s development control gave their backing to the plan.

Speaking at the virtual meeting of the committee on Wednesday, 24 November, Mr Veasey said nine objections to an eight by four metre extension was “absurd” adding he was surprised to have received the level of objections.

The single storey extension will provide additional living accommodation with a dressing room and home office, although Mr Veasey was clear it did not run his building contractor business from home.

He said he had two children and the family had lived in the bungalow for four years having moved to a “nice, safe location to bring the kids up” but felt there was possibly an element of not being accepted “for whatever reason.”

Local member Cllr Meirion Davies said the Trawsgoed Community Council had no objections to the “relatively small, one storey” extension and the application “ticks all the boxes.”

The objectors did not attend the committee meeting and the application was unanimously approved.
