ABERYSTWYTH councillors will visit Haverfordwest skatepark — considered one of the best in the UK — to get inspiration ahead of the construction of Parc Kronberg.
Work is already well underway behind the scenes to build a new skatepark in Boulevard St Brieuc after Aberystwyth Town Council won a bid for £440,000 grant funding to replace the current run-down park.
And Cllr Mererid Boswell, née Jones, who led the successful campaign for the money from the Big Lottery Fund, updated other councillors on the progress of the skatepark, which will be called Parc Kronberg.
“A lot has happened in the last month, which needs a lot of updating,” said Cllr Boswell.
“Ceredigion County Council has been appointed as our advisors — our consultants — who are going to manage the building work.
“I am in contact with Haverfordwest [skatepark]. We are supposed to go there and see their park because it is quite a pioneering one, so I am trying to organise a free evening in January.
“I have also asked Andrew Harris at Ceredigion County Council for an extension on the lease because it has to be at least a 20-year lease in order to get us the expenditure.”
It is hoped that the work will be completed by the summer.
