A LLANBADARN Fawr councillor has demanded that Ceredigion County Council takes enforcement action after a second telecommunications mast was installed at the Parc-y-llyn retail park.

Paul James said he had raised concerns over the installation of the second mast, after residents had approached him with complaints that the new mast was seemingly larger than the first.

Cllr James said the new mast is permitted under development guidelines.

But he said the old mast was still in place and has insisted that should not be allowed to continue.

He has called on council enforcement officers to take steps to have the old mast removed.

Cllr James said he had been told that the old mast would be removed around three weeks ago, but said that there had been no progress which had led to residents calling for enforcement action.

He said: “It’s an enforcement issue now. Something needs to be done. They’re allowed to put a replacement mast up under the rules, but there’s two masts there now.

“I spoke to the agents for the mast who said they would take action, but they’ve done nothing about it. The masts are both still there and residents are unhappy about it.”

The council in September decided that an application for the new 15m replacement mast did not require planning permission as it would be considered ‘permitted development’.
