PLANNERS have approved a scheme to nearly double the footprint of a Tregaron bungalow despite officers warning the application goes against a number of council policies.

Members of Ceredigion council’s planning committee heard an empassioned plea by the applicant Lisa Evans, who said the plan would allow her and her partner to “remain in the area and build a family”.

Despite officers recommending the plan for refusal because the planned extension at Brynamlwg, Cors Neuadd was over 80 per cent larger than the original home at the site - committee members approved the plan.

The granted scheme will see the bungalow extend from 101.5m sq to 195.7m sq. It would be an increase of a shade over 86 per cent - nearly doubling the size of the home.

“This area is important to us and want to settle here,” Miss Evans told members.
