A DECISION on plans for a new attraction at a Gwynedd adventure park will not be made until at least September after planning committee members voted to carry out a site visit.

Dragon Raiders Activity Park, based in Criccieth, has applied for planning permission to develop its existing land for the quad bike safari activity in addition to the existing segway, paintball and bushcraft activities.

According to the applicants, the development would create an extra three jobs but would not require any substantial development other than the new course being marked out on its existing land.

However, local concerns had been raised over the potential noise impact and Llanystumdwy Community Council raised an official objection by claiming “doubts about the accuracy of a number of facts on the application”.

But during last week’s planning committee meeting in Caernarfon, members voted to carry out a site visit for themselves before making a decision either way.

Due to the summer recess, a decision will now be delayed until at least September.

Planning officers had recommended the plans be approved, citing that, as long as conditions were met, it would meet planning guidelines.

Applicant Paul Good, said he “had no intention of upsetting his neighbours,” and that an environment noise assessment had found it would not cause undue issues.

But Cllr Gruff Williams said that, while the assessment had been carried out with one quad bike on the circuit, the attraction would have up to six bikes using it at one time.

Members backed Cllr Sian Wyn Hughes’ proposal that a site visit should be carried out before any decision is made.
