A DECISION on the future of a Garndolbenmaen pub has been brought forward, as community members battle to find the cash to buy it.

Plans to convert the Cross Foxes into a home were deferred by Gwynedd Council’s planning committee members for a second time last month in a bid to give the Garndolbenmaen Community Group more time to get funding.

The group, which wants to run the building as a community pub, put those plans to Gwynedd Council after an application was made from a developer to change the pub into a home – a plan which went before planning committee members in February.

Planning members gave the group until June “so that additional evidence could be received regarding a realistic financial package that would enable Garndolbenmaen Community Group to purchase the property”.

With the house developers now planning an appeal against the delay, the application will come back before members for a decision on Monday, a month earlier than planned.

The application to change the use of the building has been backed by the council’s planning officers, and has been recommended for approval.
