IMPROVEMENTS to the road network and parking issues need to be addressed before highways chiefs back plans for over 50 houses in Llanidloes, a planning submission says.
Plans have been lodged with Powys Council for 51 houses at land adjoining Rhos y Maen in Gorn Road, with the scheme including road widening to improve access.
But while the council’s highways department has said there is no objection in principle, a consultation response has said the scheme cannot be supported without changes to the planned road improvement and to parking spaces provided for the houses.
A letter to the planning department by Paul Wozencraft, a senior development control engineer, said that, while the widening of Gorn Road was welcomed, there needed to be more work done to make a junction with the widened road safer, that visibility splays needed to be approved and that there is a need for some of the off-street parking for the houses to be rearranged.
