TREES near the North Road clinic in Aberystwyth are causing concern for nearby residents, town councillors have heard.

Councillors were told the trees may have to be chopped down and re-planted because they are affecting the Cambridge Terrace alleyway and gardens behind houses in Queens Road.

“This is a rather contentious issue,” Cllr Ceredig Davies told members.

“We have been discussing this for several months and a decision needs to be reached on what to do.

“As a town council we are serious about any issues for residents and we will take professional advice.”

Cllr Brenda Haines said: “These trees roots spread very quickly. It’s time to chop them down and plant new ones.”

Cllr Mark Strong, whose ward as a county councillor covers the attraction, said that he was “anxious for something to be done”.

“No damage has been done but there are concerns that the trees will continue to spread,” he told members."
