A grade II Gothic mansion in Gwynedd is home to four new exhibitions.
Plas Glyn-y-Weddw presents its new season of shows by a range of artists who all work in different styles but have something in common - environment and nature are at the centre of their work.
There’s Rob Piercy’s glorious landscapes, dynamic birds, flowers and views by Penelope Timmis, Jacob Buckland’s beautiful abstract landscapes to a striking collection of works on the overarching theme of light and water by Jenny Ryrie, David Heke and Liz Ellis, including watercolours, film, photography and ceramics.
“There will be something for everyone in beautiful exhibitions that are a feast for the eye but also stimulate discussion as we live in an age where the fragility of the natural world is a crucial subject,” a spokesperson for the Llanbedrog-based mansion explained.
Three individual presentations include watercolours by Jenny Ryrie, photography and film by David Heke and ceramics by Liz Ellis. The artists were part of hugely popular ‘Petals and Claws’ exhibition, celebrating 50th anniversary of the Owl Service by Alan Garner held at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in 2018, and the venue is delighted to welcome the three back with this “visually beautiful and thought-provoking exhibition”.
The exhibitions were officially opened on Friday, 19 May, by Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas and will continue until 14 July.
