ST Padarn’s Playgroup in Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth, is celebrating its 40th birthday this weekend and is calling on all past and present staff and children to come along to celebrate.

On Saturday, 14 May, the pre-school playgroup will be throwing a party to mark its 40th birthday. There will be children’s entertainment from the Pied Piper, live music, hog roast, games, raffle, cake stall, and more, as well as a chance to see the playgroup’s facilities and meet staff.Organisers are inviting all past nursery children, staff and committee members to come along and help make the day one to remember.The party starts at 11am (until 3pm) at St Padarn’s School, next to the playgroup.

The playgroup’s longest-serving playgroup leader is Kath Phillips, who was at the helm for 27 years. Under Kath’s leadership, the Playgroup established a reputation for providing high quality, affordable childcare. Current playgroup manager, Eleri Barker, has also been keen to develop the service so that it continues to meet the needs of both parents and children. The playgroup is now open until 5.30pm during term-time, and also provides after-school care for children from St Padarn’s school up to age seven.
