Madam,
Yes, Mr Vickers, you are missing something, (‘Not EU money).
Wales currently receives £245 million more each year than it pays into the EU.
Admittedly, the UK as a whole pays in more collectively than it receives.
Wales’ position reflects its relative poverty in comparison to England and this level of need is thus demonstrated by the EU’s contribution.
However, having experienced the duplicity of the present government and, in the absence of any firm and written promises from them to replicate the EU’s funding, we should not hold out any hope that the benefactors in Westminster will pay heed to Wales’ position in the event of Brexit.
Those who suggest we give up this funding should be viewed with suspicion as it appears they may well be playing fast and loose with many of their fellow countrymen’s future welfare.
Yours etc, Siôn Griffiths, Trawsgoed, Aberystwyth.
