There is a saying that we are what we eat - in the world of computer science there is an acronym GIGO, which is short for garbage in, garbage out - common sense will tell us that we should all eat good quality and healthy food for our wellbeing.
Therefore we should all be supporting our farming community by signing the National Farming Union (NFU) Food Standards petition to support the farming and food quality we currently enjoy in this country. The UK Government has the opportunity to put into law rules that prevent food being imported to the UK which is produced in ways that would be illegal here.
For your sake and that of future generations, please sign the NFU food standards petition at www. campaigns.nfuonline.com and ask the UK Government to ensure all food imports are produced to the same high standards as British farmers. So far more than a million have signed, but the population of Northern Ireland is 1.8 million, Wales 3.1 million, Scotland 5.4 million and England 54 million, so come on folks as every signature counts – 1 million signatures implies a worrying level of apathy – surely dear reader you care – no doubt your children do!
• The Swansea tidal lagoon is an absolute eco must - this project should be seen as the tip of the iceberg considering the UK is surrounded by the sea – especially knowing the second highest tidal range on the planet occurs in the Bristol Channel. Indeed, all the billions being wasted (and to be wasted, thanks to Boris) on wind and solar generation should have been, and should now be, spent on ocean current and tidal energy for producing electricity in the UK, in conjunction with gasfired power stations of the CCGT variety.
A line should now be drawn under coal, wind, solar, bio-mass and horrendously expensive and potentially extremely dangerous nuclear fission power stations.
It is also stupidity to even think wind and solar will satisfy the needs of the proposed electric vehicle (EV) revolution to be realised in 10 years’ time.
