THE plug was pulled on developers’ chances to snap up an old toilet block in Llanidloes at an auction last month.
The council-owned disused toilet block at Bwlch y Gle was due to be put under the hammer by Newport-based auctioneer Paul Fosh Auctions, but was withdrawn from the sale due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
But those looking to spend a few pennies to become the proud new owner of the former public loos, will still get a chance to bid on the property - as the council plans to enter the property into a future auction.
The fully-equipped toilet block, next to a car park, was removed from an auction on Thursday, 24 March, by Powys Council because of “unforeseen circumstances”, but a council spokesperson said the authority is still looking to sell the block.
They said: “The toilets were withdrawn from auction due to unforeseen circumstances, however, it is hoped they will be re-entered into auction in the near future.”
Auctioneer Mr Fosh said ahead of the March auction that the guide price for the unusual property was nominal, so the toilet block could pass to a new owner for just a few pounds at auction, depending on interest.
The toilet block is near the Clywedog Reservoir and suggestions for potential use by any new owner have included converting it into a cafe, subject to planning approval from the council.
