Madam,
While on holiday in West Wales we went to our favourite beach at Llangrannog with the family and found spaces in the beach car park.
When I went to pay the parking charge I found that the machine was no longer accepting coins, the phone number on the side of the machine did not take you through to make payments and there was no signal to download the app for making a payment.
I therefore went to the shop just by the car park and asked the girl serving if she would kindly help me make a payment and she did download the app and make the payment of £5.65 on my behalf. This all took 40 minutes.
However, I was still fined by One Parking Solutions, who manage the car park.
Our appeal against the £60 fine has not been accepted because they say we should have paid the charge within 10 minutes of parking. I do not believe there was a notice telling people about this 10-minute requirement.
I have asked the local council to check that the car park owner has planning permission for this space and I have also informed the police that I consider something is amiss at the car park.
The very least I expect is that someone from One Parking Solutions should attend the car park at Llangrannog to make sure the machine is working efficiently. There must have been at least 10 people desperately trying to make payment.
A notice about the time they are giving people to make their payment should also be clearly advertised and probably more than 10 minutes would be reasonable.
Yours etc, Ann Gladstone, Kidlington, Oxford.
