CONCERNS have been raised over whether enough is being done to prevent fighter jets colliding mid-air in the Mach Loop area.
The Mach Loop is a set of valleys, situated between Dolgellau in the north, and Machynlleth in the south – and from which the Mach Loop gets its name.
Speaking at the House of Commons on Monday afternoon, Gwynedd MP Liz Saville Roberts asked under-secretary of state for defence, Mark Lancaster, what steps his department had taken to improve the safety of flying practices in the Mach Loop, following a number of near misses in recent years.
Mr Lancaster admitted that “lessons needed to be learned” from the near miss, but that “all low-flying activities are meticulously planned”.
