CIVIL parking enforcement in Ceredigion saw the council make a loss of more than £30,000 in 2014/15, figures have revealed.

The authority spent almost £300,000 on the civil parking enforcement service while income from fines was just over £260,000.

However, the council made a profit of almost £340,000 from its car parks.

Figures obtained by the Cambrian News through a Freedom of Information request, show that in 2014/15, the council spent over £157,000 on employee costs for CPE with another­ £52,000 on supplies and service costs, almost £22,000 on transport costs and almost £61,000 on ‘support costs’, with a total overall expenditure of just under £292,000.

The authority had a total income of just over £260,000, with almost £220,000 coming from fines from tickets issued to cars parked on-street, fines worth almost £40,000 from cars parked off-street, including the council’s own parks, and almost £1,700 income from the issue of waivers to tradespeople.
