PLANS for Tywyn’s new Pump Park should be made public next month.

Cllr Dan Wyre is spearheading the project to bring an undulating looping track for mountain bikers to race on for the town’s residents.

He has recently met with members of the Dysynni Leisure Group to ask their thoughts on the proposal and to see if anyone wanted to join the Pump Park Committee.

He plans to set up a group of approximately six or seven people in order to drive the project forward which he hopes to have in place for next month’s town council meeting where he will lay out the proposal in full.

However, not all the councillors are happy with the project.

Cllr Eileen Ellis was dismayed that the whole grassy area of the recreation ground near the skate park was going to be replaced.

“Is that right? That land was for the children to play on,” Cllr Ellis said after Cllr Wyre finished his talk.

“Well I’m sorry, I don’t agree at all. It’ll spoil the grass.”

The council had already agreed to pursue the option of a Pump Park at a previous town council meeting and has set money aside to pay for it.
