THE Ceredigion Youth Service and the My Life, My Say charity hosted a Brexit panel discussion in Aberystwyth for young people aged between 14 and 24 years old.

The discussion was held in Starbucks to give young people a platform to have their say on the Brexit process and outcome, and how it could affect the lives of students and young people in the county.

Ceredigion County Council’s head of youth engagement and continuing education, Elen James said: “Brexit is clearly a contemporary issue that has sparked a great deal of discussion across the country.

“This event ensures that the young people of Ceredigion have a platform to express their opinions in an environment that respects a variety of opinions and fosters debate.”

Young people were split into groups of four and were encouraged to discuss their opinions on matters arising from the Brexit process before feeding back the points discussed to the broader panel.

Megan Mason, a Penglais School pupil who attended the event, said: “Brexit is something that will essentially affect all young people in Wales, and it’s sometimes difficult to have our say. It’s been great to have the opportunity to give our opinions and to be heard.

“I have learnt a lot from other young people and from the event as a whole, it felt really empowering being able to share and express our views as young people, here in Ceredigion.”
