A PENWEDDIG sixth form pupil will represent Ceredigion at the UK’s Youth Parliament.
Wil Rees, 18, Ceredigion’s Member of the Youth Parliament, will represent the young people of the county in the annual debate of the United Kingdom.
Wil was elected as Ceredigion Member of the Youth Parliament for 2017-2018 after being elected by members of the Ceredigion Youth Council.
Wil will represent Ceredigion in a live debate in the Houses of Parliament in Westminster in November, along with over 300 young people from across the UK, and will debate on five main topics which affect the lives of young people in the UK.
He will then work to implement positive changes locally to benefit the young people of Ceredigion, such as improving transport or tackling discrimination.
The Ceredigion Youth Service, which also facilitates the Ceredigion Youth Council, will support Wil during his year as a Youth Member of Parliament.
Wil said: “I’m currently studying A-levels at Ysgol Gyfun Gymunedol Penweddig, where I’ve had the honour of being head boy for the last year.
“I’ve also had the honour of being elected as vice-chair of Ceredigion Youth Council, where I’ve recently worked with Elin Jones AM, local councillors and Ceredigion County Council officers to try and improve the lives of young people across the county.
“I’m very grateful and looking forward to having the opportunity to represent the youth of Ceredigion as their Member of Youth Parliament this year."
