Lampeter’s Christmas Fayre is to return later this month, organisers have confirmed.

The Lampeter Chamber of Trade has confirmed this morning that the fayre will return on Thursday, 25 November.

The chamber, who have organised the fayre for the past 17 years, said: “Many shops and businesses stay open late and welcome familiar and new faces with a warm drink and a sweet treat, along with special offers.

“Last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Christmas Fayre was moved online, and was very entertaining, with cookery and craft demonstrations, songs and stories. “In 2021 the Chamber of Trade is happy to announce that the Christmas Fayre is back with more sparkle and fun than ever.”

There will be funfair rides and stalls on the High Street, which will be closed to traffic from 4pm; children (and grown-ups) can hunt for treasure in shop windows, and view the seasonal pictures which local children have been busy colouring in along with Christmas card designs by older children.

Entertainment will be provided by Cor Cwmann, John Frith, Lampeter Ukulele Club and some of the area’s Young Farmers Clubs.

Santa will arrive at Hafan Deg and greet the residents through the conservatory windows.

He will then walk through the town centre to the new Lampeter Evangelical Church in College Street, and settle into his Magical Grotto at Yr Hedyn Mwstard, where he will provide gifts for the children of the area. The church will open at 5pm, and, as the children and their guardians wait to visit Santa, they will be entertained by West Wales puppeteers STEPP UP.

The chamber added: “Whatever the weather blesses us with, a warm welcome awaits you at the Lampeter Christmas Fayre.”
