Madam,

I would like to respond to Gwerfyl Jones’ letter in response to Ian McIntyre on Labour’s Brexit (‘You need to get Labour’s house in order’, last week’s Cambrian News).

First of all, Labour’s position on Brexit has never been a shambles and it would interest me to know which meetings of Labour Brexit negotiations your correspondent has attended to have gained this information. Of course, the answer is none; the writer has obviously ‘assumed’ what he has printed as fact.

Furthermore, I feel very angry that your correspondent has put in print that Labour has refused to back Plaid’s call for an end to Tory austerity. Labour Party activists hold regular street campaigns as well as carrying out door-to-door leafleting to highlight what harm austerity is doing to people. In addition, constant crititicism is made to Gwynedd Council’s with regard to their austerity programme, which, your writer must surely be aware, is a council run by Plaid Cymru and there is no stopping them.

Let us all hope that Liz Savile-Roberts votes on Amendment 7 to ensure that parliament has a vote on the deal which takes place on 13 Decermber. Then we will all know where Plaid Cymru stands won’t we?

Yours etc,

O Jean Thomas, Llanfair.
