WALES has rounded up a series of prestigious awards following a “simply outstanding” international event held in Tywyn.

The weekend saw thousands of visitors from all over the world convene in Tywyn for the 2016 International Sheepdog Trials, an event held over three days.

The trials, worth “millions of pounds” to the local economy according to event organisers, saw shepherding savants travel from as far afield as Argentina, the United States as well as across the continent to participate in the highly anticipated event.

Fortunately Wales were able to make their home advantage count in the highly competitive trials.

Sue Main, trial organiser, explained: “It was an absolutely brilliant weekend for everyone involved.

“The Welsh participants could not have done better, we won the supreme championship, the team championship and the driving championship too.

Brecon handler Kevin Evans, with Preseli Ci, won the whole event but it was simply magnificent from the whole Welsh team.

“What a summer of sport for the nation!”
