Prince Charles ended his week-long tour of Wales with a trip to the market town of Machynlleth.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of his investiture, His Royal Highness embarked upon a tour of Wales from 1 to 5 July, starting in Cardiff on Monday and ending in Machynlleth on Friday afternoon, where he was greeted at the clock tower by the Lord Lieutenant of Powys, Tia Jones.

Machynlleth Wind Band played as Prince Charles was introduced to local dignitaries and took time to speak to members of the public who had gathered.

They included Charlie Hughes and his father Kevin, who had travelled from Llandrindod Wells to meet the Prince.

Together with his six-year-old sister Isla, Charlie, 7, had made a poster to celebrate the anniversary of the investiture.

Prince Charles then visited a number of shops in the town, including Blasau Delicatessen, Cariad Charity Shop, Bedwen and William Lloyd Williams’ butchers, before walking to Y Plas where more people had gathered to meet him.

A choir consisting of pupils from Glantwymyn, Carno and Llanbrynmair schools sang throughout the afternoon, as Prince Charles met more members of the public and the WI, as well as taking a walk through the community garden.
