We are bracing ourselves for another summer of cement dust polluting our village - poor children.

We have become prisoners in our own homes during the summer months. If Sigma Rock buy out G D Harries, then we fear things could get much, much worse.

We never wanted the quarry to close, all we asked for was them not to start batching cement and now they have our worst fears have been realised.

The council’s response was, and I quote: ”Just keep your windows and doors shut and try not to go out if you hear a lorry coming.”

They did some air pollution tests and, for what it’s worth, they said our air pollution was “no worse than Aber High Street on a busy day”.

When I asked about what was in the dust, water and air the NRW and council said they don’t have the resources to test that in depth.

People in Cwrtnewydd should know that this dust could be damaging, and it needs a proper investigation.
