A group of angry Pwllheli residents have been protesting outside the home of a man convicted of child pornography offences.
Residents near Abererch Road discovered last week that one of their neighbours, Anthony Walker, had been convicted of accessing child abuse images online.
The house is near a popular park and parents have banded together and protested outside the property ever since learning of the conviction.
One of the parents, Kim Williams, said: “This is the second time he has been convicted. He was jailed before.
“It’s disturbing. We didn’t know that he was a convicted paedophile.
“We started this group and plan on protesting every day to make it known we don’t want him here.
“There have been around 100 people involved in the protest so far.”
Local county councillor Dylan Bullard added: “It is a concern that someone with this sort of conviction lives so near a busy park.
“Pwllheli seems to be a dumping ground for these people who have no links to Gwynedd, let alone Pwllheli.”
Walker, 49, was told by a judge in Caernarfon Crown Court last week when receiving a two-year community order that this was his “last chance”.
The court heard that he had used his wife’s computer account to try to hide his activities from police supervising him as a result of a previous conviction in 2013 for downloading images of children, some as young as three months old, for which he was jailed for eight months.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “While we are unable to comment on individuals, the public can be reassured that all registered sex offenders are managed and monitored under Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements.
“These agencies work in partnership with a range of others that have a duty to co-operate in order to reduce reoffending and protect the public.”
