A CHEQUE for £1,300 was presented to Dr Elin Jones, consultant oncologist at Bronglais Hospital by Ken and Alice Pryce at Meurig Ward.

The money, which will be used to purchase a syringe driver to administer medication to cancer patients, was raised through a sponsored horse ride and walk in September from the farm of David Evans in Aberhiriaeth, Cemmaes, near Machynlleth, organised by Mr Pryce and supported by local businesses through sponsorship and raffle prize donations.

Twenty-three riders and 15 walkers took part in the 10-mile loop route and on their return enjoyed cakes and refreshments donated by helpers.

Dr Jones expressed her thanks on behalf of Meurig Ward.
