BEREAVED parents of a five-year-old boy tragically killed in a car crash in March have raised more than £2,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance after they tried to save his life.
Ned Jones and his grandmother Margaretta Jones, 77, died after the silver Vauxhall Agila they were travelling in collided head-on with a red Seat Leon on the A470 between Llangurig and Rhayader on Good Friday, 25 March.
Ned’s mum Sharon and father Bleddyn decided to raise funds for the Welsh emergency helicopter charity.
With the help of friends and family who donated generously, Sharon and Bleddyn managed to raise £2,097.50 which they presented to the Wales Air Ambulance, where they met the crew who tried to save their son.
The driver of the Seat, Steve Alford, 57, survived the crash, but his two passengers, his mother, Vida Alford, 86, and wife, Gillian Alford, 58, from Brampton Bryan, near Ludlow, both died at the scene.
A Wales Air Ambulance was called to the scene of the crash but, sadly, the crew were unable to save Ned due to the severity of his injuries.
