Fundraisers for next year’s National Eisteddfod have vowed to keep their appeal going, despite reaching their target with eight months to spare.
Thanks to a phenomenal effort by local fundraisers, campaigners in Ceredigion have raised £330,000 for next year’s Eisteddfod which will be held in Tregaron in August.
Officials from the Ceredigion National Eisteddfod said this week they will push on with fundraising efforts.
Speaking at the Eisteddfod executive meeting in Tregaron, chair Elin Jones AM said: “I am delighted to announce that we’ve already reached our official local fund target. Thank you so much to everyone who’s been involved so far. It’s been fantastic to see so many events and activities held across the whole county bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together.
“We know there are lots of events already in the calendar and many more being planned for the next few months, so we’ve decided to carry on. These events are an excellent way of raising awareness and getting people excited about the festival.
“[Any additional funds raised] will be used to develop a brand new Pentref Dysgu Cymraeg, promoting learning Welsh on the Maes and to improve the seating and shelters throughout the site.
"We’ll also be working with key partners to create a showcase for rural West Wales, y Pentref Gwledig."
