A CASH boost of more than £90,000 will give a new lease of life to a playground in Machynlleth.
A £93,060 National Lottery grant has been secured by Future Play Machynlleth to install a new and refurbished playground on the town’s current site.
The grant is part of a Big Lottery Fund, and the plans will take around a year to come to fruition.
Danielle Armstrong, chair of Future Play, Machynlleth said: “Future Play Machynlleth have been fundraising for four years to create a new, exciting and more inclusive play area for the children of Machynlleth and the surrounding areas.
“It had always been our plan to apply for a Big Lottery Fund grant, and to say we are happy with the decision to award us the funds needed would be an understatement.
“The community have been incredibly supportive over the years and we know that many, many families will be looking forward to enjoying a safer, more accessible play area that can be used by children from toddler to teen.
“It will be heart-warming and rewarding for us as a group that we are giving children of all abilities the chance to play alongside their friends, something that this area has needed desperately for so long.
“We are extremely thankful to every single person who has helped along the way and to the Big Lottery Fund for recognising the importance of this project for our community and making it possible.”
The new playground is set to be ready next year.
